Before World War II about 100 Triple XXX Thirst Station drive-ins dotted the landscape, two of which still exist. They started making soda in 1908, but really stepped it up when Texas outlawed alcohol production in the lead up to prohibition. The company that would become known for Triple XXX Root Beer started as a brewery in Galveston, TX, in 1895. A very good bite to it, but there’s a certain emptiness to it on back of the tongue, like mineral water. Very deep herbs, but muddled and balanced so there’s nothing really overpowering. Many a store brand white birch is literally just birch and maybe a teensy bit of vanilla. This is a white, in my experience usually the cleanest birch flavor is in white birch beers. 24: There’s a New England?)įoxon Park Beverages, Inc., East Haven, CT It’s definitely sweet though, and perhaps the sweetest of the bunch this week.įoxon Park White Birch Beer (Root Beer in Ep. The birch/wintergreen is up front - as it should be in a birch beer - but there’s a subtle bitter back to it as if there’s some more traditional root beer flavor. 20: Our 60th Root Beer!)Ī very bright red. This week we’re talking birch beers made by companies whose root beer we’ve already featured, which means I don’t even have to tell you about the companies because you already know everything being a Round Up Completeist.
